Build yourself up in the Lord.
Build your life upon Jesus Christ, rooting deeply in faith and prayer to withstand every worldly storm.

God’s Word gives us the important instruction to take responsibility for our own spiritual life. Jude 1:20 states, “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.” Spiritual growth is not something someone else can do for us, but depends on our personal relationship and decision with God. Jesus Christ is the sole and unshakable foundation of this spiritual building. While temporary worldly foundations like wealth, prestige, or material achievements can be shaken in a storm, a life built upon the rock of Christ remains steadfast in any circumstance.
Just as a tree needs deep roots to stand firm in a storm and bear fruit, a believer’s life must be deeply rooted and established in Christ’s love. People may see our outward success or talent, but God looks at our unseen spiritual roots. Through prayer, Bible study, fellowship, and obedience, our roots grow deeper, providing us with the necessary peace, strength, and patience during life's hardships. Even if we are broken by failure or disappointment in life, God’s grace restores and rebuilds us.
Noah and Nehemiah are excellent examples of this in the Bible. Despite the world's ridicule, Noah built the ark by placing deep faith in God's word and was saved from the flood. Similarly, relying on God, Nehemiah rebuilt the broken wall of Jerusalem in just 52 days. Before strengthening others, they first became spiritually strong themselves.
God has already prepared our foundation in the form of Jesus Christ. Now, our responsibility is to build ourselves up by rooting deeply in Him. When we make Christ our rock and fortress, only then can we remain steadfast in every storm of the world and live a fruitful and victorious life.
